International Leadership of Texas and CIO Lucy Mariappa win CIO 100 Award

Richardson, Texas — March 22, 2021 — IDG’s CIO has named International Leadership of Texas (ILTexas) and Lucy Mariappa as a 2021 CIO 100 award winner. For more than 30 years, the CIO 100 awards have recognized innovative organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of strategic and operational excellence in IT.

“This year’s CIO 100 class demonstrates an amazing array of initiatives. Many helped their organizations thrive during the dark days of the coronavirus pandemic, whether by directly addressing new realities in health care or business or expediting digital adoption to adapt,” said Anne McCrory, Group VP, Customer Experience & Operations, IDG Communications, Inc. “We are honored to showcase these achievements and the spirit behind them at this year’s virtual CIO 100 Symposium & Awards in August.”

“We are honored to be recognized as a CIO 100 winner,” said ILTexas Founder, Superintendent, and CEO Eddie Conger. “At ILTexas, we believe in student success, no matter what it takes – legally, morally and ethically. The very day that Lucy joined ILTexas as a CIO, the pandemic shut down the nation. She quickly embraced our mission, and it was her servant leadership and innovative thinking that kept our students learning and growing. I could not be more proud of her and her team for this incredible accomplishment.”

International Leadership of Texas is a free public charter school serving 21,000 students across Texas. When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the world, not educating students was not an option. Through innovative thinking and a commitment to student success, ILTexas transitioned all learning to virtual platforms in five days. On the sixth day, students greeted their teachers and classmates in new, virtual classrooms, in full uniform, ready to learn. This commitment to ensuring that students continued growth led to an 8% growth in student enrollment, without opening any new campuses and despite the challenges presented by the pandemic. Executives from the winning companies will be recognized virtually at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards.
