WHY:
International Leadership of Texas, a school district across Texas serving 19,500 students, has close ties to China. It operates sister schools in China. The district, with a trilingual curriculum of English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, employs many Chinese teachers and educates Chinese international students. The COVID-19 pandemic affected the first ILTexas students in China in December with the onset of the outbreak. Then in March, the COVID-19 pandemic forced ILTexas schools domestically to operate virtually.
ILTexas China donated PPE for local students to give to those in most dire need in our communities, sending them from China ‘with love.’ School students and administrators are finding new and different ways to prove global leadership begins right here at home. We are all in this together.
