Texas Rangers Support Students’ Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Who:

The Texas Rangers will be recognizing an International Leadership of Texas (ILTexas) students’fight to cure cancer. This last spring, ILTexas 4th grader Bella Flores along with her 155 classmates wrote to the NFL and MLB wanting them to wear gold during the month of September.

Soon after, the ILTexas Keller students received postcards from the MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred, Jr., stating that the MLB teams will now be wearing a golden ribbon for Kids with Cancer during the month of September. Also, because of this, they were the first to sign on with the Stand Up To Cancer organization to raise funds for cancer research.

What:

Because of Bella’s work to spread awareness, the Texas Rangers will be recognizing her at their upcoming game. ILTexas families will be in the stands to cheer as the Rangers recognize Bella and help bring attention to the struggle to find a cure for childhood cancer.

When:

Friday, September 2 at 7:05PM

Where:

Rangers Stadium

1000 Ballpark Way,

Arlington, TX

Why:

ILTexas, a free Dallas-area charter school requires all of its students to perform a service project to help their communities. After bouncing around ideas, the ILTexas Keller 4th grade decided to go with classmate Bella Braxton’s idea to “Go Gold” and help raise awareness for childhood cancer.
